Terms of Service
You own what you create. Use NeuroCards lawfully, keep your account secure and check important study answers rather than treating any app or AI output as infallible.
You must be at least 13 and able to understand these terms to create or use an account.
Creating private cards does not transfer ownership to NeuroCards. Publishing is always a separate choice.
The current service is free and provided to support study, not to guarantee grades, availability or perfect accuracy.
These Terms of Service form an agreement between you and [COMPANY NAME], a company registered in England and Wales under company number [COMPANY NUMBER], with its registered office at [REGISTERED OFFICE ADDRESS].
By creating an account or continuing to use NeuroCards, you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy separately explains how we handle personal data; it is a notice rather than part of what you are asked to agree to.
You must be at least 13 to create or use a NeuroCards account. By continuing through account creation, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
If you use NeuroCards for school, college or another organisation, their rules may also apply. They do not replace these terms unless [COMPANY NAME] has agreed otherwise in writing.
You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless it results from a failure for which [COMPANY NAME] is legally responsible.
NeuroCards is a study application for creating, organising and reviewing flashcards with spaced repetition. It may include import, export, offline support, optional AI generation and, in future, optional community-publishing features.
The current service is free. Nothing in these terms commits us to introduce paid features. If we later introduce charges, we will provide the price and any additional terms before you buy anything.
You keep any copyright or other rights you hold in the display name, folders, decks, cards and other material you create. Creating or importing private content does not transfer ownership to [COMPANY NAME].
You give [COMPANY NAME] a non-exclusive, worldwide and royalty-free permission to host, copy, process, back up and display that content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure and improve the features you request. This operational permission ends when the content is deleted, subject to limited backup retention and any publishing licence already granted.
You remain responsible for the content you submit. Do not upload personal, confidential or copyrighted material unless you have a lawful reason and the necessary rights to use it.
Publishing is not currently automatic or enabled merely by creating a deck. If NeuroCards makes publishing available, it will remain an optional, deliberate action with a clear notice before the selected content is shared.
If you are under 18, you may publish content under a Creative Commons licence only with the express permission of a parent or legal guardian.
By choosing Publish, you permit [COMPANY NAME] to show the selected deck, cards, display name and username to signed-in NeuroCards users. You also make the content available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0), but only to the extent that you own or control the relevant rights.
CC BY 4.0 allows other people to:
They must give appropriate credit, link to the licence and say if they made changes. The licence is not a transfer of ownership, and it is irrevocable for people already using the content in accordance with its terms.
You promise that you have the necessary rights to apply this licence. It does not cover third-party textbook extracts, images, personal data or other material that you do not have the right to license. You must identify any third-party material and comply with its separate terms.
You may unpublish to remove the original listing and stop new imports through NeuroCards. Deleting your account also removes the original listing and profile. Neither action withdraws the CC BY 4.0 rights already granted or deletes independent copies already imported or redistributed. Copies controlled by NeuroCards may replace your identity and profile link with “Deleted user” where reasonably practical.
NeuroCards may refuse or remove published material that appears unlawful, unsafe, misleading, infringing or inconsistent with these terms. Where practical, publishing features should also provide a way to report content.
If AI generation is available to your account, you choose the material and instructions sent through OpenRouter to an AI model with zero data retention. NeuroCards then saves the resulting cards or deck in your library.
AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, non-unique or unsuitable for your course. Review generated cards against reliable sources before studying from them. NeuroCards and AI output do not replace a teacher, textbook, exam-board specification or professional advice.
Do not submit sensitive personal data, confidential documents, exam material you are not permitted to share or content you do not have the right to process. Use of the feature may also be subject to reasonable eligibility, rate and safety limits.
You must not use NeuroCards to:
We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate misuse, comply with law or preserve the service. We will act proportionately and explain where it is lawful and practical to do so.
[COMPANY NAME] and its licensors retain their rights in the application, site design, source code, branding, documentation and material supplied by NeuroCards. These terms let you use the service for its intended purpose; they do not transfer those rights to you.
Open-source components and Creative Commons material remain subject to their own licences. User content remains subject to the ownership and licence rules above.
We aim to keep NeuroCards available and to protect saved study content, but a free service cannot promise uninterrupted access or that every feature will remain unchanged. Maintenance, security incidents, provider failures and ordinary development can cause interruption.
We may add, change, limit or retire features. Where a change would materially affect stored content or user rights, we will provide reasonable notice where possible and consider an export or transition route.
You can schedule account deletion from the app. The account is disabled immediately and can be restored during a seven-day recovery period. After that period, NeuroCards removes the account and associated private application data from its active database, subject to limited backups, legal retention and the separate rules for previously published copies.
We may end the whole service. If that happens, we will give reasonable notice where practical and explain any available export or deletion steps.
NeuroCards is a study aid. It does not guarantee grades, examination results, permanent storage, or the accuracy of user content, imported material or AI-generated cards. You should check important information against appropriate sources and maintain exports of study content you cannot afford to lose.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded, including responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights.
Subject to those protections, [COMPANY NAME] is not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you agreed to these terms, for business losses arising from personal use, or for failures outside our reasonable control. These terms do not affect any mandatory rights the law gives you.
We may update these terms when the service, company or law changes. We will change the effective date and provide a clear in-app or email notice before a material change takes effect where appropriate.
If you do not agree with a material update, you may stop using NeuroCards and delete your account before it takes effect.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, although if you live elsewhere you retain any mandatory consumer protections and rights to use local courts that applicable law gives you.
